My Ford Explorer Sport with a V6 4 liter single over head cam started acting up yesterday and the engine light came on. I had Autozone pull the the codes, P0301 and P0303. Does anybody have any ideas? I can not afford to take it into the shop right now and I need it for my 60 mile a day commute.

2001 Ford Explorer Sport
Automatic
2 Wheel Drive
70,000 miles

Installed Bosh Platenum plugs about 40,000 ago.

No other codes were provided by the scanner.

PLEASE help!

These are misfire codes. Check plugs, wires, etc. Don't let these go or the catalyst will be ruined and those are $$$.

I replaced the plugs and fuel filter. The codes have not occured again but the engine still seems to idle rough. I think the codes will occure once again in a day or two. On the Explorer are cylinders 1 and 3 related? Which cylinders are 1 and 3? All the plugs looked good. At upper RPMs the engine seems to be OK but at idle and around 1800 it seems to stutter sometimes. This is not constant. I need help. Please....

Thanks for the help!

I would say the first thing you should do is to replace the ignition wires. Don't use cheap ones, go with Motorcraft.
