Nj emissions failed OBDII "NOT READY" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I went for my emissions test and failed due to the OBDII being not ready.Car is a '96 LT1 The check engine light has never come on sinnce I began driving this car about 1100 miles ago. I have never replace the battery either. Yes the bulb does light on start up. I bought from a Chevy dealer and it had a PA emissions sticker. I called the dealer and he said there was nothing wrong with the car and this happens from time to time. What must I do to get it to pass emmissions. This is what the Veh Ins report said: Ray IP: Logged |

It's real odd that the Secondary Air Inj is the only non-continious monitor reading as ready. Check the OBD homepage link in the upper left hand corner of this page for a drive trace. Just putting miles on does not mean that you have met all the criteria for completing a monitor. You may want to do a search here for some descriptions of what a readiness monitor is and possibly some additional drive traces. But if you've driven the drive trace and the monitors still are not set.... Check your fuses and all connections to your battery and ECM. ...and just because you have not changed your battery recently does not mean that there is not an issue with it. If those connections check out...since your H02 monitor has not completed, that might be a sign that there is something malfunctioning that is preventing the monitors from completing. What that may be is something that's hard to guess at. Most monitors for heated O2 sensors will complete almost instantaneously at start up of the vehicle. You may want to check the performance of the O2 sensors (have access to a DSO?) one may be operating a bit on the "slow" side, but wasn't yet bad enough to throw a code and turn the MIL on. Oh, and keep in mind for an OBDII inspection you are generally allowed to have two non-continious monitors not completed at the time of interrogation. Good Luck! IP: Logged |
